Using Brain's Quotient

Privacy Policy

How your information is used, what stays in your browser, and the choices available to you.

Last updated

Your privacy is important to us. This privacy policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our website, services, software, or products (collectively referred to as "Service").

1. Information Collection

You do not need an account to take our tests or use logical practice. The IQ test asks for an age range to select its scoring table; your answers and score are calculated in your browser. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include so we can respond. Requests to the website and third-party services can include technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the requested page address.

Our contact form saves your topic and message, plus any optional name or email address you provide, in Deno KV so we can review your request. It sends no email. A random reference lets you identify the message when contacting us again. Messages are available only through our protected inbox and are scheduled for deletion after 90 days; database cleanup and hosting backups can have separate retention schedules. We can delete messages earlier on request using their reference.

To limit contact-form abuse, we derive a daily changing keyed hash from the connecting network address. We do not store the raw address with your message. Hourly rate counters are scheduled to expire one hour after their last update. These protections are separate from optional analytics and do not use Google or send your message to an email service. Please avoid submitting passwords, card details, or sensitive test information.

2. Saved Practice and Results

Logical practice saves your latest set, mode, selected answers, progress, and completion status in this browser's local storage. This lets you resume a set or review its result. Starting another set or retry replaces that saved session. Your recent-practice display uses this saved information; it is not a public feed of other visitors' results.

When you open an IQ result or checkout from the completed test, we save the score and table percentile in this browser. Older logical practice results can also contain saved answers. These records are not synced to an account or another device and remain until replaced, cleared by you, or removed by your browser. An unfinished IQ test stays in memory and can be lost if you refresh or close the page.

You can clear saved progress and results using your browser's site data settings. This also removes the data needed to reopen results. If storage is blocked, current logical practice works in memory and IQ completion can show a score range on the same page.

Sharing a result is optional. Shared IQ links show a score category, not your name or a verified individual test record. Choosing a social sharing service sends the share information to that service.

When you use the optional IQ payment sandbox, we store the validated score and table percentile from your browser, a hash of your recovery code, the Stripe test session reference, price, payment status and expiry in Deno KV for 30 days. This lets you reopen that test purchase on another device using your code. An essential HttpOnly cookie remembers access until the record expires. We do not store the raw recovery code in KV, send scores to Stripe, or send recovery emails. Stripe handles test checkout details. The sandbox is separate from existing browser-only results and does not accept real payments.

3. Information Disclosure

For server-verified paid IQ results, we store your score and table percentile, a hash of your recovery code, price, payment status, Stripe Checkout reference and access dates in Deno KV. Unpaid attempts expire after seven days. Purchased result records expire 90 days after payment verification, including refunded records. Use your private recovery code to reopen the result on another device during that period. Essential browser storage remembers your purchase attempt, and an HttpOnly cookie remembers access. Browser data can remain until cleared; server access still ends at the stated expiry. No recovery email is sent. We send purchase references to Stripe, but not your score, age or answers. Stripe retains its payment records under its own policy. Contact messages follow the separate retention period described above.

We may disclose your personal information to our trusted third-party service providers who assist us in providing and improving our Service. We may also disclose your personal information if required by law or if we believe that such disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, property, or safety or that of our users.

4. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your personal information.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Saved practice and results use local storage, which is separate from cookies. Google Analytics is optional and loads only after you choose Allow analytics and site reporting is enabled. Rejecting analytics or leaving the choice unanswered prevents Google Analytics collection. When enabled, reporting uses public page addresses without query strings, fragments, or referrers; test sessions and personal result pages are excluded. We do not send answers, scores, or age ranges to analytics. Google receives technical information such as your IP address and may set analytics cookies, configured here to expire after 30 days. See how Google uses information from partner sites.

Use Analytics settings at the bottom of any page to change your choice or withdraw permission. Rejecting stops future Google Analytics collection and removes accessible Google Analytics cookies for this site; it does not erase reports already received by Google. Your choice is stored in this browser for 180 days, unless you change it or clear site data sooner. If storage is blocked, the choice applies only to the current page. Tests and saved practice work without analytics consent. You can also manage cookies and site storage in your browser.

Separately, when basic reporting is enabled, our server counts public page requests by page and UTC day. This report stores totals only, with no IP addresses, browser fingerprints, visitor identifiers, query strings, or referrers. Repeat views count again; these are not unique visitor counts. Daily counters are scheduled to expire after 91 days; database cleanup may happen later. Hosting providers may keep separate operational logs under their own settings. Reject analytics or turn off Basic page counts in Analytics settings to exclude future requests. A first-party preference cookie remembers that choice for 180 days. We also exclude requests carrying Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, and respect those browser signals for Google Analytics. Earlier counts cannot be tied back to you or individually removed.

Optional payments and donations use Stripe-hosted checkout. Information you enter there, including payment and contact details, is handled by Stripe under its privacy policy. Our test pages do not collect your card details. Checkout and payment-support records are separate from the results saved in your browser.

Our Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of such third parties. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of those third parties before providing any personal information.

7. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under the age of 13, we will take steps to delete such information as soon as possible.

8. Changes to Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, without notice or liability. By continuing to use our Service, you agree to be bound by the modified privacy policy.
